Richard Marx World Tour 2011

This uncle! I was in elementary school when I first heard his most popular song: Right Here Waiting. Third brother bought the album and played it every day in the car going to school TT__TT. For the sake of reminiscing the past, I went to this concert. I don’t have high expectation though because Richard is gonna be alone performing his songs without a band. It will be just him, piano, and guitar.

I never knew that a soloist without a band can deliver such a great show. I’m glad that I’ve decided to go to this one (adding that it’s quite cheap too LOL, around  $40).

Train “Save me, San Fransisco” concert

Train is a trio band, which has released several albums. Their most famous songs which won Grammy in 2002 and 2011 are Drops of Jupiter and Hey, Soul Sisters.

I’ve been to a lot of concerts in 2011. Secondhand Serenade, The Cranberries, Maroon 5, Incubus, CNBLUE, Linkin Park, Owl City, and The Script. So far, I enjoy this concert the most.

The concert was held at Epicentrum Walk, which is an outdoor and small venue. It was supposed to start at 8 PM but after the opening act Andhika, they needed around 30 minutes to prepare the instruments. So precisely at 9:20 PM it started with the train sound: Choooo! Choooo! Continue reading

Boss, why can’t you just let go…

I thought I can get over this easily but it’s been haunting me this past week and I need to blog it.

Flashback to when I was in Seoul, on my vacation to see bluestorm concert. I got an SMS from my colleague: “Check your office email and please respond today.” Luckily I was at the guest house that time, preparing myself to meet other Boices at dinner time (dear Falling, Kiwi and others, sorry, this was one of reasons I was so late to our appoinment). Btw sometimes I dislike the fact that I can check my office email from any other places around the world.

The email requested me to submit my CV at the same day. My colleague who’s in talent pool team decided to propose my name to this one institution located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. There’s an offer to be a talent management officer. The offer is valid to all central bankers in Asia. There will be screening, interview and stuff and if I’m selected, I will be stationed there for two years. Continue reading

Feeling the blue storm

Warning: This is a JongHyun’s bias story.

Second time I can go to their live concert. A friend was surprised that I’d fly again to Seoul just for the boys. I replied shortly to her: Yes, I’m addicted to their live concert. I’m sorry that I just had the chance now to write what I feel during the two days concert. Had so many stuff to do even after I got back to my country.  I’m gonna combine the two days experiece all together, not gonna do it separately.

I went to the Feel the Blue in Seoul in December last year so I really have high expectation for this concert. Even the name sounds awesome: BLUE STORM. Continue reading

Java Rocking Land and the Nostalgic Feeling

Java Rocking Land is the biggest rock music festival in Indonesia. Held annually for 3 days, 2011 is its third year. I missed the first two as I was still studying in Neds at that time. The line-ups are always awesome each year, made me having headache to choose which day I need to attend. Full 3 days concert is not in my dictionary. It will be too expensive and tiring. I chose the 2nd day. The reason is NOSTALGIC feeling.

Yup, most artists perform that day are veterans. The festival starts from 4 PM and ends at 2 AM each day. There are 10 stages built separately for around 50 bands perform every day simultaneously. Yes, I must choose again! Headache. So here comes my list (in time of performance order):

  • God Bless
This Indonesian band is already around when I was born lolol. The main vocalist is already a grandpa. It’s so funny when they want to perform one of their old hit song Panggung Sandiwara, the guy asked, “I wrote this song in 1977, you guys are already in this world right?” Most of the audience shouted, “What?!! NOOOO!”
I admire this band for lasting so long! Kinda remind me of CNBLUE goal: become a grandpa band.
  • Young The Giant
The second performer that I watched. This band comes from South California. The vocalist is so energetic. He holds a tamborine most of the time. I like their songs though it’s the first time I hear them. They also performed a cover song by The Strokes, You Only Live Once that night. I made one fancam of Cough Syrup song, and enjoy the performance for the rest of the songs.
